Here are a few pointers for writing effective essays that will get you an A grade in no time.o Dos: Write clearly. Do not add extraneous details or just embellish things. Your reader is highly likely to miss your point if you waste your time writing about something that is very common to your topic. Make sure that you actually convey the thoughts or feelings of your essay in the format of your essay.o Don'ts: Do not be afraid to edit your essay. If there are things that are unclear or things that need clarifying, it is always best to edit the essay. The editor's job is to read your essay and fix these problems or add clarifications where needed. However, it is not always possible to edit your own essay, so you should take care to minimize editing your essay by leaving any need for editing.o Dos: Use proper spelling and grammar. Check for spelling mistakes before you st art writing, especially at the beginning. It is important to make sure that all your facts are correct, as it is easy to do things incorrectly in the writing process.o Don'ts: Do not omit or leave out important details. While doing research and gathering information for your essay, be sure to look up important words and terms and fully explain what they mean. Remember that every sentence that you write needs to be properly constructed. A sentence is incomplete without a subject and a verb; two other types of sentences are (a) dependent on one another; and (b) dependent on no other information.o Dos: Do not skimp on essay length. In most cases, your essay should be around three hundred to five hundred words long. If you have to cut down on your writing, consider making it two-thirds shorter. A shorter essay will prove more persuasive than a longer one, and you can then dedicate more of your essay to subject matters that are really important to you.o Don'ts: Do not attempt to impress your readers with your writing. People should not be able to tell from your writing whether you are trying to impress them or you just care about your piece. Your writing should be simply and meaningful. Just like you cannot impress a small child by teaching them about the alphabet, you can't impress someone reading an essay written in prose just by sending them a blurb from a movie or by sending them a leaflet from your advertising campaign. An average reader might be impressed, but you can make them feel better by telling them why they should care about your topic and why they should read your essay.o Dos: Do not get upset when your first draft turns out poorly. Just because you didn't make your first draft as good as you want it to be, it does not mean that it won't turn out to be good once you work on it a little more. And just because you messed up while proofreading your essay does not mean that your final draft will be the same.
